Nicolas Todt, son of FIA president Jean Todt, has sold all his shares in Formula 2 team ART Grand Prix after founding the team in 2005 with Sauber team principal Fred Vasseur.

Todt and Vasseur brought the team to F2 back then but have reportedly been on bad terms for a while now, which could be the reason Todt has decided to call it a day.

After being introduced to F2 in 2005, the team had immediate success. Nico Rosberg won the championship in 2005 and Lewis Hamilton did the same one year after. Both drivers, needless to say, made the jump to F1, where they went on to win six championships between them (up until this point).

Nico Hülkenberg also won the championship with ART in 2009, as did Stoffel Vandoorne in 2015 in his record-breaking year, as the Belgian broke the record for most wins in a rookie season (7). In 2018, another ART driver equalled that record, and that man was George Russell. The Brit took those seven wins on his way to the championship, which has earned him a drive at Williams in 2019.

ART will line up with Dutch driver Nyck de Vries and Russian driver Nikita Mazepin next season.
