Dr Helmut Marko has revealed Red Bull's delight with Honda in the early stages of their partnership.

Red Bull announced their decision to swap Renault for Honda early in the 2018 season, having ended a frosty 12-year relationship with Renault.

Toro Rosso, Red Bull's junior team, have endured significant progress with Honda in the 2018 season, which undoubtedly had a huge influence on the energy drink brand team's decision.

"So far, all their promises on the technical side have been kept," Marko insisted to Servus TV. "If this continues, we will then have a great chance to compete for the title in this coming season."

Honda returned to F1 back in 2015 and endured a very unsuccessful and underwhelming partnership with McLaren, but Marko is adamant that no such problems would arise this time.

"We have a different approach than McLaren," he added. "It's the first time in 14 years that we have factory status. We said to Honda 'Bring us the strongest engine you can build. Whatever you bring, we'll put it in the car.

"At McLaren, the approach was different. We are prepared for Honda having a different culture, but they have the potential and the financial resources to succeed in F1. We will see how things go."
