Max Verstappen believes it is "easier" for Lewis Hamilton to impress when the whole team revolves around him and he has the quickest car to drive.

Verstappen impressed and indicated that he could be challenging for the title next season; with a very strong second half to the season with Red Bull.

The Dutchman secured two well-earned victories in Austria and Mexico - with seven podium finishes, as well.

Verstappen was asked by Ziggo Sport if he is ready to challenge for the 2019 title; but has insisted it does not matter because everything else needs to fall into place - like it has for Hamilton.

"It is not about being ready or not ready," Verstappen said. "You just have to have the right material. Lewis was ready in his first year already, just because he had a really good car. But now he also has less pressure.

"He has a very good car and his team-mate is not there anyway. When the whole team is all about you, it's a lot easier. And the better your car is, the easier it is again."

Verstappen also believes his title stint can be aided by the new Honda engine Red Bull will have next season; after being impressed by the numbers he's seen.

"The engine for next year is a completely new one," the 21-year-old said. "It has been on the test bench for a while but it's a bit of a wait. I think the prospects are good compared to what he had until now. It is definitely a lot better."
