Nicholas Latifi is set to remain with Formula 2 team, DAMS for a third season in 2019.

The Williams reserve driver, finished ninth in the F2 standings last year with one win and two podium finishes as well as juggling his development position at Force India.

The Canadian had already been confirmed as Williams’s reserve driver but will now do that role alongside his Formula 2 commitments with DAMS, he is their first official driver for next season.

"My aims for this year are quite clear: I want to compete for the drivers’ title and help DAMS win the teams’ Championship," Latifi said.

"Driving for DAMS has given me the opportunity to showcase my abilities, which has helped in securing my F1 role with Williams, and I’m excited to be returning for another season."

DAMS had a strong line up in 2018 with Alexander Albon being their other driver, he finished third in the overall standings and team boss Jean-Paul Driot spoke about he wanted to do similar for Latifi as they had done for Albon.

"As we have done in the past, our objective is to fight for both titles. He already has one foot in F1 and we will do everything to help Nicholas into a full-time drive, as we did with [Alexander] Albon.”
