Max Verstappen has revealed there is always a "Plan B" if Honda and Red Bull Racing's relationship doesn't go to plan.

Verstappen is preparing for life with a new engine manufacturer after Red Bull announced last season that they'd be ending their relationship with Renault after some reliability issues in 2018.

So it seems the pressure is all on Honda now to deliver a successful power unit as Red Bull look to close the gap to the top two, Mercedes and Ferrari.

However, in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Verstappen has admitted there "is always a Plan-B".

"I really like this team and I'm sure we can build the fastest car ever," Verstappen said. "We only need an engine that can deliver at the top. Next year we must try to go for it and set the stage for 2020 with the goal to fight for the title."

Verstappen has also been commenting on Charles Leclerc, with the Monegasque driver preparing for his big-shot at Ferrari for next season.

When asked if the 21-year-old can challenge for the title next year for Scuderia, Verstappen replied: "It depends on the car he will have at his disposal. If it's good enough, then he will be able to challenge for the championship."
