World champion Lewis Hamilton has revealed how important "relaxation" has become in his life, in order to stay focused and determined to keep achieving success in the sport.

After a long season of Formula One, drivers must have the time to relax, see their families and recharge their batteries ready for the next season.

Hamilton, being the sports star that he is, usually has a busier life than the rest of the Formula One grid when it comes to a social life. The Mercedes driver can often be pictured or recorded at parties along with other big-name celebrities.

However, Hamilton has told Motorsport that spending time with his family and "relaxing" is also a huge part of his routine when there is no Formula One on.

"I have no plans yet for holidays, but I look forward to being with my family," Hamilton explained. "Unfortunately, I have a lot of work until the middle of December, but I would like to spend the holidays with my sister, her children and my mother and father."

With the Formula One season continuously increasing in duration; Hamilton believes that this is now, more than ever, particularly important for drivers.

Next season will only be 21 races like 2018; but the duration will be from March until December.

"The rest period is becoming increasingly important, because the seasons now grow bigger and bigger," Hamilton concluded.
