Vettel: I need to "turn everything off" after an "exhausting" season

Sebastian Vettel has admitted he's desperate for some time off during the winter break after a testing season. He says he needs to "turn everything off" so he can prepare for 2019.

The German missed out on his fifth World Championship to Lewis Hamilton by 88 points, but many people tipped him to win at the half-way stage. The two rivals will do battle again, but not until after Vettel's 111-day break.

"We've got some events coming but things that I look forward to, after this year, to be very honest is to turn everything off," Vettel said in an interview on Crash.

During the winter, Vettel will travel back to Mexico, where he mathematically lost the title, to compete in the race of champions alongside Mick Schumacher. Other than that, the 31-year-old will have a quiet break before testing starts on the 18th of February.

"I need some time for myself. It has been a quite difficult and exhausting year for me. I definitely need a bit of a gap. I'm pretty sure, based on the last winters, that very soon, usually after 111 days, I'm very, very hungry again for the next race," Vettel added.
