Sainz "recharged" at McLaren

29-11-2018 09:46

Carlos Sainz has said that his move to McLaren has recharged him and claims that he 'killed' the midfield competition last Sunday.

Carlos Sainz made his track debut for McLaren yesterday. The testing went well and it seems that Sainz is on a high after he claimed to have "killed" the midfield opposition by finishing 6th and best of the rest despite qualifying in 11th.

"We're opening a new chapter with a great result" Sainz said to motorsport.com.

"I'm going to McLaren with a great feeling, with full motivation and fully recharged."

"It was a very big result for us. P4(in the championship) was our target, and today we just simply killed the opposition with that P6."

"Saying goodbye to Renault with this result was exactly what I was after."

After yesterdays testing session in Abu Dhabi Sainz said that "Going out of the garage today on my first day as a McLaren driver was pretty much a dream come true. When I finally completed my first run I felt extremely good."

"It's been an intense few days after the race finished here in Abu Dhabi, learning lots of names and understanding how the car works. I'm looking forward to spending more time back at the factory over the winter getting to know the team better and preparing as much as we can for 2019."

Sainz seems to be ready to relishing the opportunity to drive for McLaren and hopefully he will be really pushing in the 2019 season.
