Hamilton: "This car will be in the history museum"

Lewis Hamilton has qualified on pole for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. As he climbed out of his car, he praised his car which has helped him pick up eleven pole positions throughout the 2018 season. He says it will be "in the history museum".

Hamilton's 83rd pole position of his career was comfortable as he finished well ahead of Ferrari rivals and his team-mate Valtteri Bottas. The World Champion expressed how emotional he felt because it was the last qualifying session with the 2018 Silver Arrow.

"This car will be in the history museum with all the greats in the past so I'll get to see it anytime, but it won't fit in my house," Hamilton joked with David Coulthard.

"The emotional rollercoaster I've gone through with this car. It's been a real privilege and today was so much fun to go and push the car in anyway you can."

Hamilton made a mistake in his opening Q3 lap but still managed to finish on top after the initial lap times. Sector three was where he made the difference and he alluded to this in his post-session interview.

"The first lap wasn't spectacular, the last sector was the killer and that's what really made the difference for me today. It's been a real privilage to race against these guys this year," Hamilton added.
