Formula 2 driver Deletraz believes Haas "see potential" in him

Formula 2 driver Louis Deletraz will drive for Haas on the second day of testing at Abu Dhabi next week. The 21-year-old is desperate to impress the American team as he eyes up a strong future in Formula 1.

Deletraz might be a name you recognise. He's the son of former F1 driver Jean-Denis Deletraz who has just three Grands Prix to his name. A great trivial name from the 90's!

The 21-year-old is excited to be taking part in the tyre test and pleased that the Haas team see potential in him for the future.

"I think they like the challenge, and they see potential in me, they are happy to test me and to see the result and where we can go after that," Deletraz said in an interview on Grandprix 247.

"I think Haas has a really good car, they are one of the first teams outside of the top three, so it’s something we’ve worked on for a while. The key thing here is I have 42 super license points, so I am available for it. To validate that you have to do an F1 test."

The Swiss driver sits 11th in the Formula 2 championship after having a strong middle part of the season sandwiched by many no-points finishes. He expresses F1 remains his main intentions for the future and the test this coming week will help him take the next step.

“The main focus will be for me to learn the processes of F1 and the car and to be as quick as possible so that when I am in the car I will be able to be quick and give proper feedback. It’s a 2019 tyre test so it’s not only about me but about the team," Deletraz added.
