French Grand Prix organisers hope to fix traffic issues with long term deal

Fans faced traffic jam troubles on entry to the Paul Ricard circuit for the Grand Prix back in June. The organisers say they hope to get a long-term deal to provide them with the money and security to build better roads around the circuit.

"We can only invest money if we have security for a longer period. And then I talk about eight to ten years," according to the chairman of the organisation that organises the GP in France, Christian Estrosi.

"We can not build roads for the upcoming edition in 2019, but we also realise that the traffic situation was not too good. We will, therefore, come up with a temporary solution with, for example, shuttles or something in that direction. We are working hard to come up with a solution to ensure that normal traffic and extra traffic due to the GP, even on Friday, does not cause problems again."

It sounds like the fans are going to have to suffer a little longer. The race is on the calendar for the next four years at least with the current contract. The 2018 event proved profitable meaning a deal is likely.
