The Formula E series is a great place to spot former F1 drivers that may have slipped your mind, and with the line-up for the series being announced, here are the names you may recognise from their time in F1!

Felipe Massa – Likely to be the most recognisable on the grid, Massa won 11 Grands Prix in a 15 year F1 career and after a year out of racing, the Brazilian is ready to go with the Venturi team.

Stoffel Vandoorne – Vandoorne is still in F1 right now, but will race for McLaren for the final time next week in Abu Dhabi. The Belgian is still young, and could find himself back in F1 in a few years time.

Nelson Piquet Jr – A former Formula E champion, the son of Nelson Piquet Sr, a three-time World Champion, had a short and unfruitful stay in F1 around a decade ago.

Sebastian Buemi – The second Formula E champion raced for Toro Rosso and was even linked with a return to the team for next season, although he turned it down.

Lucas di Grassi – The 34-year old is better known for his Formula E world title than his disappointing season with Virgin in F1 in 2010. He failed to score a point and finished a high of 14th.

Jean-Eric Vergne - Tipped as the next big thing in Formula One, Vergne was thrown away somewhat unfairly by Toro Rosso whilst only 24, but he has shown his talent in Formula E, winning last season’s title.

Jerome d’Ambrosio – Another former Virgin driver, d’Ambrosio replaced di Grassi at the team for 2011, but he could do no better than the Italian, scoring zero points as well. You may remember he raced for Lotus at the Italian Grand Prix in 2012 after Romain Grosjean’s ban. He has two Formula E wins to his name.
