Robert Kubica looks set to secure the second seat at Williams for 2019.

It looks as if the Polish driver will replace Sergey Sirotkin, who has had a very underwhelming season for Williams.

Kubica is currently the Williams reserve driver and at an event in his native Poland, the reserve driver stated: "I have made my decision."

He has not featured in Formula One since almost severing his forearm in a rally crash seven years ago, and he has been considering the Williams seat or a Ferrari test seat.

Kubica is believed to have put enough funds together to secure the Williams seat, with millions coming in from Polish oil company PNK Orlen.

"Will I be at Williams next year? I hope," Kubica insisted to Sport.pl. "There are only two teams that officially have places next year, and I will definitely not go to Toro Rosso."

Kubica has revealed that the negotiations has been "very tense" and not as simple as some people may think.

"The period is very tense with many things happening," the Pole added. "It is not like me or other people are having fun and do not want to announce what is decided.

"Everyone has to make their decisions. I openly say that I was approaching my decisions with a deadline, and I have already taken it. I will not say it so as not to create strange consequences, but I think that now we should find out very quickly what happens next with me.

"As of today, not everything depends on me, but I can also say that not everything depends on Williams."

Kubica will be driving alongside George Russell at Williams next season, if the move goes through without any problems.
