Formula E's 2018/19 season will be shown live on the BBC in the UK, the championship has announced.

The Formula E series will be available free of charge on BBC iPlayer, BBC Sport website and the BBC red button digital television service. They will also broadcast one race of the season live on network television.

Formula One on free-to-air television is something of the past now and the only race that will be shown for free, on Channel 4, is the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Sky Sports F1 have a deal with Formula One to broadcast the sport live until 2024.

Formula E's media and business development director Ali Russell has said the championship "will continue to be broadcasted to the masses and across a variety of platforms in the UK.

"It's imperative that Formula E remained on a free-to-air network in such an important territory and key market for motorsport.

"What better place to showcase some of the best and most competitive racing than on the BBC. We're fully charged and ready for the new season on the streets of the most recognisable cities - and this year promises to be more intense and more unpredictable than ever."

The first race of the new Formula E season will take place Saudi Arabia on December 15, and the rest of the races after the new year.

Good news!
