Former Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa says he pleased he's not involved with Williams this year. As ever, Massa is a big attraction at the Brazilian Grand Prix, and this year he will be watching rather than participating. Next month, he will start his Formula E career.

Massa drove in Formula 1 between 2002 and 2017. Initially retiring in 2016, Williams brought him back for an additional season following Bottas' move to Mercedes. He points how bad his old car is this season.

"Man, to tell the truth, when I see how the car is running and the position it now has, then I have no great desire to be in that situation, no," he told Motorsport.

"I'm very grateful for what I've experienced, it's only natural that when you enter Interlagos, the urge to race is growing, to participate and experience the excitement, but I'm super happy with the next phase of my life and my I think about my future."

Formula 1 has two Brazilian test drivers in the ranks building experience. Massa says it's good that Pietro Fittipaldi and Sergio Sette Camara are involved, but a shame they don't get many chances.

"Of course it's really nice to see Pietro Fittipaldi and Serginho Câmara, it's an experience for them, I hope it works and Brazil has another F1 driver. But today, a test driver does not mean much. In my time, 2003, you tested a lot," Massa added.
