Vietnam Grand Prix set help geographically organised calendar

One of Liberty Media's desires is to generate a geographically organised calendar, and according to Sean Bratches, the Vietnam Grand Prix will help this. An April date is expected after Formula 1 officially announced the Vietnam GP on Wednesday.

The Australian event will continue to kick off the season due to contract rights. This is followed by Bahrain, China and then Azerbaijan. The American rounds are all at the back end of the season, except Canda.

"One of the things we are currently trying to do is align our races by geography," Bratches said in an interview on motorsport week.

"We are subject to some agreements we have inherited. but ideally, and not necessarily in this order, we would like to have our races in the Asian and Australasia markets grouped, as we would the races in American and European markets. April in Vietnam supports that vision."

The announcement was met with plenty of grief and uproar from the F1 community. Fans were frustrated to see another street circuit appearing on the calendar while also expressing frustrations that Silverstone and other F1 legendary tracks are in trouble
