Force India boss Otmar Szafnauer has revealed he believes Lance Stroll will be a great asset to the team in the future.

Stroll is currently driving for Williams in the last couple of races in the 2018 season, but is all but confirmed to be a Force India man following his father, Lawrence's takeover of the team this season.

Stroll's performance, when compared to his team-mate, Sergey Sirotkin's overall season, has been impressive and has pleased Force India boss Szafnauer.

"I don't know him well yet, but from outside I've seen him do a good job," Szafnauer told Brazil's Globo. "Next to Felipe Massa, he finished three points behind last year and Felipe was world champion for a half a lap in 2018.

"And when Sergey Sirotkin went to Williams this year, everyone told me he is very fast in qualifying, but Lance is beating him. All that suggests we are dealing with a great driver."

Szafnauer believes Stroll is a huge talent but still needs guidance in the right direction and that Force India are the correct team to offer the Canadian driver just that.

"He's still very young but he will help him to develop," the Force India boss continued. "And if there is something we know how to do, it's how to train young drivers like Nico Hulkenberg, Paul di Resta, Jules Bianchi and others.

"We can extract the potential out of young drivers and with Lance it will be no different."
