Toro Rosso driver Brendon Hartley has been given two more penalty points on his racing licence for his collision with Esteban Ocon during the Mexican Grand Prix, as the Kiwi finished 14th at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

It's probably the final nail in the coffin of Hartley's F1 career if it wasn't nailed already before the race. Team principal Franz Tost made it very clear that Hartley needed to start beating Pierre Gasly and stop getting penalties if he wanted to stay onboard, and he failed to do both of those things in Mexico.

He finished well behind Gasly, with the Frenchman finishing tenth and Hartley finished 14th, and he did get a penalty for making contact with Ocon.

"I think the pace was definitely there to get comfortably into the top 10 if the problem in the first lap was not there," Hartley analyzed to Motorsport-Total after the race.

When looking back at the incident that caused him to get a five-second penalty, he admitted that he was probably in the wrong.

"I just saw it on video, and it was something in the dead corner.

"I thought I had given him more room, there were no bad intentions."
