During the Mexican Grand Prix, Ferrari became the first Formula One team to use the brand new brake disc technology. Designed by Brembo, the brakes include 1400 holes to help keep the disc cool. Temperatures reach up to 1200c, which in the high Mexican climates is hard to reduce down.

Next season, this new disc will be made available to all Brembo customers. Around two decades ago, cars would run with just 30 holes, but modern technology has allowed for a major improvement on this.

Two years ago, Brembo said they had reached the maximum amount with 1200 holes, but they kept pushing! The new total has been given by making seven distinct rows of holes over the brake discs.
