Mercedes team principal was very unhappy with his team's performance in the United States, stating that if not for his spin early in the race, Sebastian Vettel could have easily won the race ahead of both the Silver Arrows.

Vettel, who started fifth after taking a three-place grid penalty for ignoring a flag during free practice on Friday, had contact with the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo and got spun around in the process. He dropped down the grid and had to limit the damage from then on. He did manage to overtake Valtteri Bottas for fourth place in the final laps, finishing just one place behind Lewis Hamilton in third.

Wolff was left very unimpressed by his own team, claiming that Vettel could have taken the win if he didn't have his collision with Ricciardo.

"After some good races, our car wasn't fast enough today," the Austrian told Speedweek.

"Had Vettel not had his spin in lap one when he wanted to overtake Ricciardo, he could have easily won today."

This acted as a wake-up call for Wolff, who realises that the championship is for from over.

"We must not let up, Both world championships are not yet decided.

"Now the momentum is back at Ferrari, the team deserves respect.

"They were just stronger today and deserved to win.

"We need to step up in Mexico to get the most out of our car. "
