Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel thinks that his team took too long to snuff out the issues that came with the upgraded package in Singapore, as the Italian team were slower than Mercedes for two straight races after Singapore as well.

Although Lewis Hamilton didn't officially win the drivers' championship on Sunday in Austin, it's only a matter of time at this point. He's 70 points ahead of Vettel with just three races to go, meaning that the Brit needs six more points in those three races to seal his fifth title.

Vettel takes issue with the fact that Ferrari took three Grands Prix to rectify their mistakes that came with the upgrade package in Singapore, as the three races it took pretty much decided the championship in the Mercedes driver's favour.

"It took too long," the German was quoted by Autosport when talking about the Ferrari being quick again.

"You can see it is good news but you can also see it is bad news.

"If we have to go back to a car that has been competitive three/four months ago, then surely it cannot be good news if you think about it.

"For us on the technical side it is important to understand what went wrong.

"Clearly there was something we missed, and we haven't understood yet why and where the error exactly took off or started.

"So there is a lot of stuff for us to do and understand, but I am pretty sure we will do what is necessary to get on top of it."
