This impressive record was broken at the Singapore Grand Prix

Ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, the main focus was on Max Verstappen in terms of records that could be broken. That was not in the cards for Verstappen at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, but there is another Formula 1 driver who has an impressive record to his name: Fernando Alonso.

Alonso already holds the record for most F1 races to his name, as well as the record for most F1 seasons. At the Singapore GP, the 42-year-old Spaniard added an impressive record to his list.

Alonso sets impressive record

On the 16th lap of the race, Alonso did something no one had ever managed before. At that point, the Aston Martin driver had covered a total of 100,000 race kilometres. His team dwelled on the moment and dedicated a social media post to it on X, formerly Twitter.

"Fernando has just become the first driver in F1 history to complete 100,000 km under race conditions. A legend of our sport," reads the caption of the post.
