Force India's Esteban Ocon was not happy with the team's performance in Japan, despite an eight-point haul as he finished ninth and his teammate Sergio Pérez even finished best of the rest in seventh.

Ocon qualified in eighth but was put back three places on the grid after receiving a penalty for ignoring a flag during FP3 on Saturday morning at Suzuka. Starting from P11, Ocon did well to fight his way back into the points, but he's not happy with the way his team performed as he thinks they were clearly the best in midfield.

"Not happy with our weekend, with my weekend," the Frenchman told RaceFans.

"We were, I think, clearly the fourth fastest team but I think with the penalty it dictated the race weekend.

"We managed to grab some positions at the start, then in the race with overtakes, but even if the race we did well I’m not satisfied.

"Next race we have to qualify better, not make mistakes and then we can pull away from everyone."

Ocon scored two vital points for Force India in their battle in midfield, adding to the six points that Pérez put on the board for the Pink Panthers. A great haul from the team, but it's also refreshing to see Ocon demanding more from himself and from those around him; that's the winning mentality that gets you places!
