Esteban Ocon has confirmed he will be in the F1 paddock next season even if he doesn't secure a race seat for 2019. The Frenchman is widely rumoured to be on the way out at Force India due to the arrival of Lance Stroll.

Ocon had been set to move to Renault until the French team was able to secure the signature of Daniel Ricciardo. The move by the Australian prompted the busiest silly season in a long time which has left Ocon short-changed and on the outside looking in for a drive in F1 next year.

Speaking to RMC Sport, the Force India man confirmed that talks were still ongoing however he would be in the F1 picture next year in the paddock even if he couldn't gain a seat elsewhere.

"No, I don't blame them," he said.

"I don't know exactly what happened but what I have to do now is prove that they were wrong."

"Currently there are discussions, but nothing more for now. I do not know what is my percentage chance is to sign but it is my last chance for next year.

"But it's not the end of the world if I'm not on the grid next season. I will prepare, particularly on the physical side. And I will come back much stronger in 2020."

Despite still only being 22 years of age, Ocon reaffirmed his belief that he doesn't need more experience and that he is ready for a seat at the table, with Mercedes still trying to find him a seat for next season.

"I do not need to gain more experience outside of Formula One.

"I will stay fully focused on formula one and act like nothing else matters. I will stay in the paddock to get ready and try to learn as much as possible and come back strong."
