Grosjean: "I'm not here to crash"

Romain Grosjean is one of F1’s biggest crash merchants but is hoping to avoid the barriers and other cars as he looks to secure his seat with Haas for next year.

The American team have been rather tight-lipped regarding next year’s driver line-up, which has led to many fans assuming they will keep their two current drivers in Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen.

Since Grosjean returned to form after an early-year drought, the two have made a formidable partnership and are challenging Renault to be the best of the rest in the constructors’ championship this season.

Most recently, Grosjean received a talking to from F1 Race Director Charlie Whiting after ignoring blue flags during the Singapore Grand Prix whilst he was battling for position with Sergey Sirotkin.

The Frenchman is now under threat of receiving a race ban for accumulating too many penalty points on his super licence.

Grosjean is aware of this, and explained: “I’m not here to crash, I’m not here to do anything silly. It’s F1, and we still need to deliver a good performance. So I’ll make sure that I don’t do anything silly, but I’ll still be pushing and racing and doing my job.”

“When you look back at the points I got, some you can really explain, some others are more questionable, but there they are.”
