Force India sued over team sale to Lawerence Stroll

The Force India saga never seems to stop. This morning it has rolled into another chapter as the sale of the company has now been challenged. Rival bidder Uralkali has sued the team and is challenging them in the high court in London.

Dmitry Mazepin, a non-executive director at Uralkali, had his bid turned down by administrators in favour of what was offered by Lawerence Stroll. Interestingly enough, Mazepin's son Nikita Mazepin is in Force India's junior driver set-up.

Uralkali insists Stroll's bid was "significantly inferior to Uralkali's" and argues FRP should have selected its bid as the winner during last month's administrative proceedings.

“Despite Uralkali’s generous offer for the business and assets, which we believe was the best bid on the table, the administrators chose to enter into an exclusivity arrangement with another bidder and subsequently refused to re-engage with Uralkali,” the company said in a statement.

Uralkali claims their bid was higher but FRP failed to recognise this. This has promoted legal proceedings to begin.

Since Force India's revival, they've picked up 32 points, already climbing themselves into 7th place.
