Sergio Perez has confirmed an announcement for his 2019 plans will be announced soon. The current Force India driver sent his team into administration in a desperate attempt to save almost 400 jobs. He claims he has known his destination for awhile but has kept it under wraps.

Perez, 28, began his F1 career with Sauber. He then moved to McLaren as a promising young driver. Since 2014 he has been driving the Force India who are expecting the Mexican to sign on.

"I have known for a long time what my plans are, so it should be just a matter of days or weeks before we formally announce my future," says Perez on race fans.

Lawerence Stroll has taken over the team. It seems inevitable that Lance Stroll, his son, will move to the team in due course. Perez claims that the team he drove for in 2013, McLaren, approached him this season before announcing Lando Norris as their driver.

"We have talked," says Perez. "I actually had my plans ready at the time, they were interested in my plans, but there really was not much to add because I already knew which way I wanted to go in. I'm pretty happy with what I have," he added. "I believe this is the best option for my future."

"If you're not in a Mercedes or on a Ferrari seat, Force India will be a very attractive place," he said. "We have been defeating everyone over the last two years, we can show speed, this team is certainly not a bad place."
