Formula 3 championship leader Mick Schumacher has responded to Daniel Ticktum's rant about the German, who hinted that he was only beating him because "his last name isn't Schumacher".

The 19-year-old Schumacher overtook Ticktum in the title race after pulling off an incredible winning streak, winning seven of nine races since his first season win at Spa Francorchamps. He won five races in a row too, winning all three at the Nürburgring and two of the three at Spielberg last weekend.

Ticktum was suspicious about this sudden patch of form from Schumacher, saying that it was "interesting" to see that Schumacher had suddenly found all the pace he did.

However, the Prema driver was not as venomous in his response to Ticktum, when he was asked for a response to it all.

"I do not listen to something like that," Schumacher Junior told Speedweek.

"The car is terrific to drive.

"We've evolved as a team, while others may have stopped at one point.

"I wish him [Ticktum] good luck that he stays in the title fight - but I focus on myself, that's my key.

"Everyone evolves during the year, we never stop working and learning.

"After my win at Spa it was not easy, but we managed to be consistent, especially in qualifying, with good lap times."

With only a handful of race weekends to go, Schumacher suddenly is the favourite for the F3 title, which has undoubtedly turned some heads in F1. He's been offered drives in F2 and in DTM already according to some reports.
