Sebastien Buemi's possible F1 return will not be happening after the Swiss driver committed his future to staying in Formula E with the E.Dams team. Buemi had been linked with the Toro Rosso team, returning to the outfit he started at in F1 back in 2009.

The vacant Toro Rosso seats remain empty with several big names linked to the vacancies such as Robert Kubica and Jean-Eric Vergne. Buemi however will not be in the running for the race seat having confirmed he will be competing in Formula E with the new E.Damns Nissan team.

E.Dams team principal Jean-Paul Driot praised Buemi saying that he was the right driver to continue on with the team.

“Sebastien has been an important part of the E.Dams team since our first Formula E race four years ago in China."

Buemi will be driving alongside F2 racer Alexander Albon who will make the switch at the end of the season. Driotsaid he was looking forward to the partnership and how both men will push the team to continue their high-level performances.

“We know Alex well from his performances with DAMS in Formula Two, and we’re excited to bring his talent into the Formula E championship.”
