Horner on Aston Martin and Honda deal: 'Good to see them continuing'

On May 24 it was official, Honda is once again returning to Formula 1, the Japanese manufacturer will team up with Aston Martin's team. From 2026, Honda will supply the British team with engines. After saying goodbye to Honda in late 2021, Christian Horner is happy to see the manufacturer return.

New engine regulations will start to come into Formula 1 in 2026 and only then will the Aston Martin-Honda partnership be seen on the track. "II think they're putting a good team together. Honda, it's good to see them continuing in the sport. They have obviously done a significant U-turn from where they were 18 months to two years ago," Horner revealed to GPblog and others.

Red Bull Powertrains

With Honda parting ways with Formula 1 after 2021, Red Bull Racing had to make an important choice for their own future. This led to the creation of Red Bull Powertrains.

"Their decision forced us in many ways to make a decision about our long-term future, not relying upon a manufacturer and taking control of our own future. By making the investment that we have in Red bull Powertrains, it has enabled us to put the whole thing under one roof. It's a huge task for 2026, but one that we're really excited about. The fact that everything is now under one roof will pay dividends in the long run."
