Sergio Perez suffered a major blow in Monaco after crashing in qualifying, but his Saturday in Spain was not much better. The Red Bull Racing driver made a mistake in Q2 and could not improve his lap thereafter. The 33-year-old Mexican is disappointed with his 11th starting spot in Barcelona.

Speaking to GPblog and others, Perez explained that he had problems in turn five, he could not find the rhythm there. However, he does think there are chances to move towards the podium from P11. He sees plenty of chances to overtake with the new layout, and following hasn't been too much of an issue so far this weekend.

Speaking to Viaplay, Verstappen's teammate said: "I just touched the damp part, it was quite tricky there. And yeah, that means that I lost quite a bit of time. The tyre was too hot because I didn't have a cool-down lap in it. So yeah, the tyre was just simply too hot to do anything."
