Nyck de Vries is having a tough start to his F1 career, but managed to surprise positively in Monaco. Red Bull Racing team advisor Dr Helmut Marko had compliments for the Dutchman. A boost, but the AlphaTauri driver's mind is already on the next race.

De Vries doesn't dwell on compliment

De Vries is a Formula E champion and Formula 2 champion, but in his F1 debut season, the driver is not yet casting a high light. His 2022 F1 debut at Williams at the GP of Italy have raised the Dutchman's expectations. After the first five races of 2023, the AlphaTauri driver was already put on edge by the Red Bull team.

So with his P12 finish in Monaco, De Vries made up for a lot. He received compliments from Marko, but the Dutchman remains level-headed about it. Speaking in Spain on Thursday, De Vries told GPBlog and others: "We live in the present, you're as good as your last race, and it's ultimately all about performance. People make mistakes, I make mistakes, we're human, we move forward. Today, this weekend, is a new weekend."
