On Monday, it looked like it was only going to rain on Sunday during the race weekend in Spain, but that has now changed. According to Weather.com, there is now more than a 60 per cent chance of rain every day. Will we see a rain race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the first time since 1996?

Friday thunderstorms

Thunderstorms are now forecast for Friday. However, these will only develop in the afternoon. It will be a maximum of 24 degrees Celsius and there is a 60 percent chance of rain. Further into the weekend, the chance of rain is even higher.

More chance of rain in Spain

On Saturday, the chance of rain increases to 70 percent. Especially in the afternoon, the rain looks set to fall, making qualifying in rainy conditions more likely. On Sunday, the chance of rain remains the same, but showers are predicted throughout the day. As a result, a scenario like during the Monaco race seems plausible.
