Leclerc as a milkshake: 'Check my head and it's crazy'

Charles Leclerc was on pole in Monaco in '22, but this year he did not get beyond third position at his home race. That was the maximum achievable, the Monegasque stated afterwards during the press conference. His Ferrari is simply not good enough to beat Max Verstappen's Red Bull at the moment.

Drawing a comparison between last year's Ferrari and the current SF23, Leclerc noticed one specific problem: "I think it's on bumps especially. If we look at the on boards of the different cars, check my head and it's crazy. It's going from left to right, especially on top of the hill, turn 3 and turn 13. It's very, very tricky. Last year it was a much better and much easier to see the road. The car would absorb much more the bumps and that was much easier to be consistent."

'An exciting day' for Leclerc

While the result may not have been perfect and his car needs the necessary improvements, Leclerc had enjoyed another qualifying run through the streets of his hometown. "It's just such an exciting day," he said of the Saturday of the Monte Carlo race weekend, as it is usually all-important for the final result.

Finally, "Then race day, yes, it is not the most exciting race in terms of overtaking, but the Saturday is just incredible. The feeling that we have over the quality lap is so good. It's like nowhere else on the calendar. Yes, it feels really good."
