Sergio Perez will have to start from the very last place in the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday. The Red Bull Racing driver crashed in Q1 in Turn 1, making it an early exit for the Mexican. Perez himself bitterly regrets his mistake in qualifying. He still hopes to move towards the points in the race, although he knows that will not be an easy task.

"Yeah, I locked the rear end quite late into the apex and that meant that I ended up losing the rear and I ended up in the wall," a disappointed Perez told Viaplay. The 33-year-old veteran will have to start from last place. "Yeah, it will be a nightmare. It will be really difficult to be able to make any progress."

Ahead of the weekend, Perez let it be known that he wanted to finish ahead of teammate Max Verstappen at all costs in order to stay connected in the World championship. However, that seems to have become almost impossible. "It's a massive hit. I think, yeah, it's a massive hit and I've lost a lot of points on this race."
