Max Verstappen has a contract with his team Red Bull Racing until no less than the end of 2028. The two-time world champion has repeatedly made it known that it remains to be seen whether he will continue in Formula 1 after that. Speaking to Sky Sports, the Dutchman stated that he actually enjoys many other races.

After winning his first world championship in 2021, Verstappen extended his contract from then, which ran until 2023, by five years. This ties the Dutchman to his current team until 2028. Verstappen is critical of changes in the sport, such as sprint races, and thinks the calendar is too full.

Verstappen speaks out

Verstappen revealed that the he does not only enjoy racing in Formula 1. "I love racing, otherwise I wouldn’t be on the simulator driving other cars but that’s exactly the thing. I like to do other kinds of racing, not only F1. I know that I will be 31 when that’s the end of the contract but I also then already been in F1 for a very long time and it’s a lot of work," says the Red Bull driver.

"It’s travelling a lot, not only the races, but in between you’re travelling to the factory, you have marketing commitments. I am a person who loves to be at home. I like to be competitive, I like to win but if you can’t fully motivate yourself to get to every race then that’s the point you have to question yourself."
