Carlos Sainz set the fastest time in Monaco, ahead of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton. Max Verstappen was not happy with his RB19 and said that many times on the radio. The Dutchman got no further than P6. Alexander Albon provided an early end to practice.

Carlos Sainz and Lance Stroll slightly hit the wall at the start of the session, but both were able to continue the practice without damage. Later in practice, Nico Hulkenberg caused a red flag. The Haas driver hit the wall in the chicane after the tunnel, causing some mess on the track. Just before the end, Albon hit the wall hard, bringing the session to an early end. In the end, Sainz was fastest in Monaco.
