Sainz doesn't take silly season too seriously: 'It's how it goes'

Carlos Sainz is not too worried about the rumours that have been circulating in recent weeks. The 28-year-old driver can laugh about it and thinks that at the end of the day, not much will change at all.

Sainz remains quiet under all the news coverage and does not pay much attention to it. "I always know that around Monaco, Barcelona, every year, every driver is going to five different teams and every driver, in the end, nothing much happens," he told Sky Sports.

Sainz and Audi

Sainz himself has also been linked to another team by the rumour circuit. The Ferrari driver is said to be in an advanced stage with Audi about a switch. Nothing is true about that either, he was quick to say at the time.

"I was going to Audi two weeks ago [according to the rumours]. No one talks about it anymore. Charles was in Mercedes one week ago, and no one talks about it. It's how it goes, especially with an unexpected free weekend from Imola," Sainz shrugged.

Few changes at top teams likely

Sainz and teammate Charles Leclerc are at least still under contract with the Maranello-based stable until 2024, so nothing seems likely to happen within Ferrari. Indeed, Lewis Hamilton also denied Ferrari's interest. The seven-time world champion is about to sign with Mercedes.
