Ferrari is rumoured to have offered a huge contract to Lewis Hamilton. The Scuderia would use this to bring the Brit to Italy. Bernie Ecclestone would be surprised if Hamilton leaves his current team and states that there must be something wrong at Ferrari if Charles Leclerc would be happy to leave the team.

The Daily Mail reported that Ferrari chairman John Elkann is said to be in talks with Hamilton. The chairman is said to have offered the seven-time world champion a contract with a salary of around £40 million (€46 million). Ecclestone believes Hamilton should not go to Ferrari.

Ecclestone responds to Hamilton rumour

Ecclestone, the former Formula 1 boss, does not think Hamilton will leave his current team Mercedes. "Lewis has said that when he does decide to stop he would still want to be connected with Mercedes so it would surprise me if he wanted to leave. And if I was Lewis and I saw that Leclerc is happy to leave Ferrari, I would think there has to be a problem there," Ecclestone told PA News.

Ecclestone sees no better place than Mercedes

Ecclestone sees no reason why Hamilton should leave his current team. "I also don’t know why Lewis would think he would be better off at Ferrari than where he is at the moment. He knows everything well and truly at Mercedes. They know him, and they have a lot of respect for him so he couldn’t be better looked after anywhere."
