Mercedes AMG F1 is coming to Monaco with a major upgrade package. F1 analyst and former F1 driver Jolyon Palmer thinks the F1 team's timing is strange. According to the Brit, it is a desperate move.

Several teams had planned major upgrades for last GP weekend in Imola that was cancelled. Logically, those upgrades were moved up a week. According to Palmer, F1 teams should take a critical look at whether they want to bring the new package to Monaco. According to the analyst, it would be better to introduce it during the Spanish GP.

'Bringing upgrades to Monaco desperate'

On Formula One's Preview Show, Palmer discussed the problem: "That's the thing. You've got Barcelona, that's one week after it. It's the traditional test track, where you can really evaluate what you've brought. You don't want to be destroying them [the upgrades] in Monaco, and running out, not being able to bring what you wan't to Barcelona to get a read on it."

Palmer added: "Then you have to trust the drivers, at Mercedes, if they're going to bring it. They have a decent pairing to do that, but it looks to me like a desperate measure."
