Steiner hoping Grosjean keeps his form

Despite his disqualification on Saturday, there were positive signs for Romain Grosjean and Haas as he continues to show impressive form following his early season slump.

Grosjean failed to score in the first eight races of the season, a max of bad luck, personal mistakes and simply having no pace caused him to record his worst ever start to a season.

However, finishes of 4th, 6th, 10th and 7th in the next five races suggested a return to form that was backed up by finishing sixth again in Italy.

However, Grosjean was disqualified for his Haas car having an illegal floor, but the showing was positive for him and his team.

Team boss Gunther Steiner is happy with his driver’s recovery and mentioned last week that he is happy with his current driver line up ahead of the 2019 season, with Haas yet to officially announce their drivers for next year, although they are expected to retain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen.

Steiner is pleased Grosjean has “found the key” to his talent once again and said:  "I hope he doesn't lose it again! I'd better ask him where he puts it in case he loses it again. Maybe we need a red string on it.

"Joking aside, Romain has been racing for a long time and is very experienced. He knows how to handle himself. So if he says that, I hope that it works.

"This is how Romain goes normally. We just need to make sure he does it all of the time and avoids all these fluctuations. There are limits to how many of those you can do.

"But I think he is doing fine right now.”
