Racing Point Force India have continued their excellent charge back up the F1 constructors’ standings by scoring 14 points at the Italian Grand Prix.

After Romain Grosjean’s disqualification for an illegal floor after the race, Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez were bumped up to P6 and P7 respectively, meaning they have both scored 16 points since Force India’s takeover.

The old Force India team had their points taken away for the year after falling into administration and being bought out by Lawrence Stroll, forcing them to start again on zero points at the Belgian GP.

However, they have fought back extremely well in the last two races, and now sit above Williams, Sauber and Toro Rosso in seventh in the constructors’ standings.

Understandably, Force India’s team principal Otmar Szafnauer is pleased with their recovery.

He said after the race: “Ten points from Monza represents a good reward for another massive effort by the team. The car has been strong from the start of practice and despite not maximising qualifying yesterday we recovered well to bring both cars home well inside the points.”

Szafnauer also praised the strategy of the team, which saw both drivers go long into the race before making their mandatory pit stop on to the soft compound tyres.

He added: "The strategy calls from the pit wall saw us pit late in the race with both cars, which worked out well for us and ensured we had good race pace throughout the afternoon, and a relative tyre advantage at the end.”
