According to German publication Auto Motor und Sport, Charles Leclerc has signed a deal with Ferrari for next season.

The Sauber driver has been heavily linked with Scuderia throughout his debut season in Formula One.

The German publication states that Leclerc signed a new deal with the late Sergio Marchionne when he was president of the Italian team.

However, Louis Camilleri has since took over presidency and it is believed that he wants his good friend Kimi Raikkonen to extend his stay at Ferrari.

Speaking to the media prior to the Italian Grand Prix, Camilleri said: "We have not made a decision yet. When we take that decision, and there is no time frame, you will be the second to know."

But Auto Motor und Sport say that the decision has been made - and even a deal has been agreed, against Camilleri's wishes.

Raikkonen, who led for most of the Italian GP before eventually losing out to Lewis Hamilton, is still uncertain about his own future as we head ever closer to the 2019 season.

"I do not know," the Finn admitted. "Eventually it will happen. You can probably expect everything. I've learned that over the last few years."

It looks likely that Raikkonen, 38, would retire from the sport if he does lose out to Leclerc and then Ferrari junior driver Antonio Giovinazzi would take Leclerc's current seat at Sauber.
