Force India man Sergio Perez refused to shut down the rumours suggesting he could be switching to McLaren for the 2019 season.

Everything looks like Perez will be driving for his current team, Force India next season but the Mexican driver has been linked with a shock move to McLaren, and he isn't completely rubbishing the speculation.

Perez has previous with McLaren, with the driver being part of the team back in 2013 - but switched alliances to Force India after just one season.

"If I had guarentees that I could be competitive, and there was a great project behind everything, then why not?" Perez said to the press following his P8 finish at Monza's FP2.

"But I would have to know the details of their plans better, to understand the situation of the team."

Stoffel Vandoorne is the driver under pressure at McLaren at the moment - fighting for his life, but the team have also been linked with a move for Renault's Carlos Sainz Jr. and there has been rumours suggesting junior driver Lando Norris could be promoted next season.

Perez has praised McLaren for their expectations.

"There is no doubt that the best of this team is coming," the Mexican added. "The goal is to be a competitive team in the coming seasons and I think it is possible to even be among the top three."
