Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has confirmed that Daniel Ricciardo will take a grid penalty in Monza next weekend, with the Aussie set to make several changes to his engine.

Ricciardo got caught in the crossfire at the start of the Belgian Grand Prix, as the Honey Badger's rear wing got taken clean off by a flying Fernando Alonso. The car got repaired and he got sent back out, but with him being a full lap behind, Red Bull saw no point and the Aussie was reeled into the garage and the team called it a day.

Red Bull's #3 will take a tactical penalty, Horner has revealed, but Max Verstappen might be spared from that. The Dutchman could squeeze another race out of his power unit, the team boss reckons.

"Daniel will be taking an engine penalty next weekend for sure," the Brit confirmed to Sky Sports.

"Max might be making engine changes, but Singapore might be our next chance to put some pressure on Ferrari and Mercedes."

Reviewing Ricciardo's early end of the Grand Prix, Horner holds his hands up and says there wasn't much anyone could've done to prevent it at Red Bull.

"Daniel was lucky in a way but unlucky in that it ended his race.

"The boys in the garage did an incredible job in getting that rear wing turned around so quick.

"It usually takes about 45 minutes and it took them 10 minutes."
