Red Bull deal "a dream come true" for Gasly

Pierre Gasly will drive for Red Bull next season alongside fellow young driver Max Verstappen. Gasly confirms the deal is a "dream come true" for the Frenchman.

Gasly has produced a couple of astonishing drives for Toro Rosso this season, including a top 6 finish last time out in Hungary. His Honda experience and relationship will also be vital for Red Bull moving forward.

“To be awarded a drive at Aston Martin Red Bull Racing from 2019 is a dream come true for me, I’m so excited to be joining this top Team," Gasly said in the Red Bull statement.

"It has been my goal to race for this Team since I joined the Red Bull Junior Driver Programme in 2013, and this incredible opportunity is another step forward in my ambition to win Grands Prix and compete for World Championships."

Driving for one of the big three teams results in added pressure. Gasly knows all about this and claims he is ready to face the challenges.

"I am fully aware of the challenge this special opportunity offers me and the expectations that faces any driver at Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. I’m looking forward to rewarding the faith that Dietrich Mateshitz, Christian Horner and Dr Helmut Marko have placed in me," adds Gasly.

Gasly has started just 17 races in F1 so far. That total will reach 26 races by the time the chequered flag drops in Abu Dhabi. But Red Bull will have one of the most inexperienced driver line-ups in the paddock. With data to be collected in the Honda engine, Red Bull could be building for a big future!
