After coming in at one-two on the Six Hours of Silverstone in the WEC, both Toyota cars have been disqualified from the race afterwards, as they broke the rules when the specifications of the cars got checked after the checkered flag.

Fernando Alonso's #8 car came in first, with mainly Sebastian Buemi putting in a hell of a shift at Silverstone. The #8 car led the #7 Toyota to the finish, with the two cars coming in at P1 and P2 with relative ease.

However, after the race, the cars were stripped from their positions, as the post-race check found that the front of both cars was too low to the ground, therefore breaking the regulations. That granted both cars to be disqualified, which means Jenson Button's car, who originally came in third, will be the new winner.

“Toyota Gazoo Racing has lost its one-two victory in the 6 Hours of Silverstone following a post-race technical inspection," the Japanese team confirmed in a press release.

“The #8 TS050 Hybrid of Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Fernando Alonso crossed the line to win the third round of the FIA World Endurance Championship from Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López in the second-placed #7 TS050 Hybrid.

“Both cars suffered damage to their respective front floor areas during the race due to impacts against the new kerbs at Silverstone.

"Regrettably, this also caused both cars to fail deflection tests in post-race scrutineering.

"As a result, race stewards disqualified both cars.”

That's painful for the Japanese team, but they should still have no big problems with the WEC championship this year, as they're the only factory team in the LMP1 class, as Porsche pulled out last season.
