Romain Grosjean is very keen for staying at Haas F1 next season, but he knows that his position is in jeopardy, which is why Spa Francorchamps should be a podium for him to convince his team what he's capable of.

Grosjean had a terrible start to the season, crashing and retiring time after time again, sometimes taking other cars with him. His recklessness have frustrated Haas executives, as the team doesn't have a very big budget.

However, Belgium is the last time Grosjean stood on the podium, with him finishing third three years ago. He'll have to dig deep and show something to Haas again next weekend, and Spa might be the right place for that.

“We had a good car in Belgium that year," Grosjean recalled when talking to F1i.

"I had qualified fourth, but started ninth due to a gearbox penalty.

"I managed to overtake a few cars and get on the podium - honestly, it was one of those weekends where everything just goes to plan.

“I won the GP2 title there in 2011 - that was a great year."

Grosjean knows that the pressure is on him right now at Haas, but his confidence hasn't gone away - that would be the worst thing that could happen.

"If I turn up at a race weekend not thinking that I’m the best, or that I can’t win the race, I’d be better off staying at home with my children.

"I always want to be on the podium. I always want to try to win the race.

"Of course, it depends a lot on the car.

"But in the end, you can never give up and you always strive to give your best. That’s the mentality you should have."
