Dutch driver Nyck de Vries faces his first weekend in Melbourne in terms of Formula 1. Over the past few days, the AlphaTauri driver has had time to train and get used to the Australian conditions. De Vries has yet to score any points this season, but obviously wants to change that this weekend.

With spot 10 as their target, AlphaTauri travels to Melbourne. Both Yuki Tsunoda and De Vries have yet to reach this magic limit this season. Nevertheless, according to the Dutchman, little by little they are improving. "We've done two races, and I see and feel that I'm making little steps. And that is encouraging. And hopefully, this weekend, we can continue to move forward and fight for a point," De Vries said at the F1 press conference.

De Vries critical

After the race in Jeddah, the 28-year-old driver said he was very critical of himself. Yet now he also brings out the positives. "I felt like there were good elements of the race. Like my last eight laps were very competitive", Says De Vries.

"I think generally we were in a position that we need to look at small kind of steps and positivity to encourage us forward and continue to try and close the gap towards the top 10." De Vries continued.
