Fernando Alonso is back in the limelight at the age of 41. As if the Spaniard never left the front of the grid, this is how the Aston Martin F1 driver is currently moving through the paddock. Two Grands Prix, two podium finishes. However, he has yet to credit a victory this season.

For a driver with his qualities, Alonso has won few races. The tally has stood at 32 wins for years. “I think Fernando should have won anyway already a lot more races than what he has done. I think he deserves a lot more,Max Verstappen said during the press conference ahead of the Australian Grand Prix. "I would be quite happy to see him win number 33. But I also, in a way, also I would like to see him win more."

Alonso enthusiastic about eager Spain

On social media, there has been huge support towards Alonso for some time, hoping he can once again stand on the top spot of the podium. "It’s crazy to see how Spain is now so enthusiastic again for Formula 1 and for everything that is happening,” said the Aston Martin driver, who was seated next to Verstappen. "So, this is very nice to see and hopefully I think they did enjoy these first two podiums the whole country.”

Alonso himself does not so much follow what happens on social media. However, he did catch on that there are hopes on all sides that his 33rd victory will soon follow. "All the football clubs or footballers or tennis or whatever they are always doing something with 33. So hopefully we can reach that number in terms of wins and then we go for 34.”
